END OF CHAPTER!

Just a few days over a full year ago, I launched this comic, and fittingly, now we’re at the end of chapter 1!  This is just the beginning, of course, but since this is my first full year of doing something totally new to me, it seems appropriate right now to write a little end of year post-mortem and some thank you’s:

First of all, thanks go to my mom and dad–I’m grateful and lucky to have parents interested enough in my work to actually call me every weekend and discuss each current update, haha.

Secondly, a huge thanks to all my housemates, past and current: My lovely girlfriend Myken, for being my constant touchstone; my housemate Ellen, who is my best editor and favorite person to bounce ideas off of; and Emily and former housemate Toril and their incredible comics, Hotblood! and Quick$ilver, who were the driving motivations for kicking me in the pants to finally sit down and do a project I’d been mulling over for years!  All these people are incredible, please check out their comics and work.  I’d also like to give a nod to all the comics I’ve recommended on my “Links” page (which I, in fact, need to update with plenty more), but particularly Ariel Ries’s Witchy–my “sister” webcomic, in a sense, as we launched around the same time as each other, and a beautiful, brilliantly crafted read.

I’d also like to give a huge thanks to Mey Rude of Autostraddle and Brit Mandelo of Tor.com for their very kind write-ups!

AND LAST BUT NOT LEAST-LY, immense thanks to the support of all my readers, and everyone who’s commented on, reblogged, spread the word, or just stuck around for my comic over the past year.

This year has really been a learning experience for me, especially in terms of refining my process and time management, which (you may have guessed from this slightly late update), I haven’t always been entirely on top of.  I work a full-time job, so Brainchild, at the moment, is something I do purely out of love in my spare time–however, that doesn’t mean I don’t want to keep improving at doing it as efficiently and regularly (and hopefully more frequently!) as possible.  So in order for me to be prepare: Brainchild will be on a 4-week hiatus until February 22nd, after which Chapter 2 will begin.  In the meantime, I’ll try to be posting extra goodies on the comic blog as often as I can.

See you in February!
