Quick Update!

Hi everyone!

Sorry again for the long, long radio silence–you may have already read up about the situation on my blog, but if you haven’t, the long and short of it is I had a tremendously difficult couple of years rife with job insecurity, upheaval, and grief–particularly culminating in the loss of my dad–in which I needed to take some time away for bereavement and recuperation.

Now I’m back to working on Brainchild, and boy do I have ideas! Some big ideas about the future of the story, and how I plan to continue making it and sharing with you all–but before trying anything drastically different, I knew that finishing chapter 4 in the usual format was a priority.

That is why…it’s done! All remaining 34(!) (that’s a lot) pages of Brainchild Chapter 4 are completely penciled, and you can read the black and white roughs for the next 5(!!!) pages ahead on Patreon right now. And no, this doesn’t mean I’m switching to a paid model for the comic–once these are all fully inked and colored to the usual level of completion (which I am toiling away at as we speak), they will go up for free on the site as always, for which we’re looking at a timeframe of the next several months. Please have just a little more patience until then! The Patreon feed will update weekly on Sundays (meaning yup, there’s another update coming right after this!) which I might bump up to even more frequently depending on how far ahead my inking + coloring schedule takes me…and there are a couple of juicy double updates down the line, too. Seriously, check out how far ahead this sucker will be going, I mean it.

I’ve always been reticent about taking money in exchange for this work due to the very nature of life often ensuring that there’d be gaps like this last one in which I was unable to deliver–which is why I’ve only felt comfortable setting this up knowing 1. I’ll be delivering a complete package (yippee!!) on an automated schedule with no guesswork involved for either myself or my audience, and 2. it won’t be punishing to anyone who doesn’t have the will or the means–think of this as a little nice-to-have if you’re so inclined while I continue to get the pages Main Site Ready™.

…aaaaand, as I’ve been continually vaguely teasing at, since right now there is nothing more that I care about than the future of Brainchild, this Patreon may serve as the experimental testing grounds for some additional ideas in the near future…
